Purpose:
Monitors and oversees program and grant activities for federal and non~federal granting agencies and foundations. Responsible for internal and external programs and grants through various academic and community based partnerships.


Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field.
  • Typically requires 5 years of experience working within research, academia or heath care institutions. Includes 1 year of supervisory experience in pre award and post award grant management.
  • Knowledge of the management of grant processes, with significant experience in grant and proposal writing and budget preparation.
  • Demonstrated experience in obtaining funding for complex clinical research and knowledge of grant funding resources.
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal audit A-133 guidelines.
  • Experience in grant writing, negotiation of budgets and working with granting agencies (federal, non~federal, foundation).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees, critical to collaborate with staff/management/executives and other organizations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to function as a team leader and partner on multidisciplinary teams. Ability to work closely with physicians and senior leadership.


Accountabilities:

  1. Completes program audit and gap analysis to determine readiness for major program and grant development activities. Develops and implements plans to enhance the infrastructure for project readiness. Responsible for initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure of projects, including setting metrics, timelines and schedules and identifying resources for project completion.
  2. Oversees and defines roles and rules of engagement, negotiates financial relationships and helps define project implementation responsibilities between all parties involved in project development opportunities.
  3. Oversees the preparation of grant proposals, budgets and grant applications for identified specific funding sources. Monitors and guides the creation of proposal materials including narratives, letters of support, budget and required documentation.
  4. Monitors post~award grant management and ensures compliance with federal guidelines. Maintains current knowledge of applicable local, state and federal codes and regulations and ensures compliance of grants. Oversees research staff to meet grant regulatory requirements. Performs continuous monitoring and quality assurance of post award grant management across departments.
  5. Serves as central point of contact for research grant audits and helps other departments with audits for program and education grants. Meets and provides requested information to internal and external auditors. Consolidates audit findings and presents to department leaders. Works with department leaders to create action plans for audit findings. Manages all research grants (pre~ and post~award activities) submitted by the Aurora Sponsored Programs Office to federal, non~federal and foundation granting agencies. Presents quarterly updates on grants to the Council for Quality Assurance and Improvement in Research.
