Qualifications

  • Current Nursing License in Illinois
  • Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
  • BSN or equivalent required
  • 3-5 years relevant clinical experience.
  • 3 years as a Clinical Documentation Specialist
  • 1 year or more leadership experience required.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Utilization of Critical thinking in timely decision making.
  • Knowledge of MS office products.
  • Ability to travel and work across multiple sites as assigned
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a matrixed leadership structure
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment with established time constraints and in a difficult situations.

Job Description
The purpose of this position is to provide daily leadership and oversight of the Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) program and CDI staff at multiple Advocate sites as assigned. The Mgr Clin Documentation Improvement reports directly to the Dir Clinical Documentation Sys and provides direct management and development of site CDI staff. This position has a matrix reporting relationship with the Care Management Director of each assigned sites. This position collaborates frequently with Coding Professionals, Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurses, and Nurse Practitioners to ensure accurate and timely clinical documentation in the medical record which supports the coding process in attaining appropriate DRG assignment. This role supports ongoing communication and education on documentation opportunities, coding and reimbursement issues, and performance improvement methodologies.

Accountabilities:

  1. Responsible for personal professional growth.
  2. Provides management oversight of the daily operations of the clinical documentation program at assigned sites.
  3. Facilitates performance improvement activities for the clinical documentation management program.
  4. Serves as internal consultant on clinical documentation opportunities.
