Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) issued by a State Board of Accountancy.
  • 5 years of experience in accounting
  • 3 years of management experience in accounting.
  • Proficient knowledge of US GAAP and government rules and regulations.
  • Proficient knowledge of general ledger and related financial and revenue cycle business intelligence systems (e.g. Workday and Epic).
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate/collaborate effectively with all levels of staff, management, executives, providers, physicians and external organizations.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or similar products.
  • Experience in the preparation and review of health care financial statements, financial analytics and account analysis.
  • Ability to understand and analyze the underlying business and its implications on financial accounting and reporting.
  • Ability in managing and leading teams through all phases of complex accounting projects.
  • Strong project management and process improvement skills
  • Effective organizational and analytical skills with the ability to perform multiple tasks meeting deadlines with accurate and detailed results
  • Position may require evening and weekend hours during month-end, quarterly and annual reporting periods.

Responsible for the management of the day to day general accounting function and provide financial guidance and analysis for Advocate Aurora Health (AAH) and its subsidiaries to ensure accurate and timely recording and reporting of financial and statistical data in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), governmental regulations and AAH's accounting policies. Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of the AAH audit work performed by the Accounting Operations team. Develops, implements and maintains AAH's accounting systems, policies and procedures, process improvements and internal controls. Works in close partnership with the Financial Planning, Financial Reporting, Tax, Supply Chain, Legal, Human Resources, and Information Technology teams.


  1. Manages the month-end close process for areas of responsibility, including the review of journal entries, account reconciliation's, and supporting schedules, to ensure all financial transactions and related statistical data are recorded accurately and timely to the general ledger and related subsystems in adherence to the established monthly financial close schedule.
  2. Reviews and approves financial statements and reports in accordance with AAH's accounting policies and GAAP in collaboration with the Financial Reporting team to ensure the timely and accurate issuance of financial statements and management reports in order to meet all internal/external reporting requirements.
  3. Manages the identification, research, development and implementation of new accounting and reporting requirements due to changes in AAH's accounting policies and procedures, internal controls, process improvements and/or as required by new regulations or new accounting guidance.
