Position Requirements:
4 yrs. experience in maternal/child nursing,
BSN
Appropriate counseling skills.
Ability to cooperate well with others.
Team building skills.
Communication skills.
Counseling / coaching skills
Extensive bereavement support experience

Current Illinois Registered Nurse License.
Certification in Perinatal
Grief Counseling Preferred Resiliency and flexibility to deal with a changing environment.
Ability to work under stressful conditions and in difficult situations.
May be exposed to hazardous materials and life threatening diseases.
Some travel between campuses.
Flexible hours.
The candidate must be able to perform physical task such as lifting patients and moving equipment.


If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case~by~case basis.

Purpose:
To assess, plan, implement, facilitate and evaluate the activities of the perinatal support/crisis intervention component of Family Care Services. To coordinate medical, nursing, chaplain, social workers, administrative and outside agency activities to ensure that all families suffering a loss are provided support, guidance and direction during the acute crisis period. To provide individual and group counseling as they work through the grief process during the post crisis healing period. To function as a liaison between physicians, outside agencies, nursing staff and other support services who are involved with patients and families. To develop and implement educational program, seminars, and teams to ensure the availability of knowledgeable staff to families and all obstetric, medical neonatal and pediatric nursing staff are aware of their special needs.
