Good Shepherd Hospital, (Primarily working in the Immediate Care location in Crystal Lake)

Monday-Friday  11:30 p.m. - 8:00 a.m. (Working one weekend in a six week schedule. Having Friday and Monday off when working the weekend)

Full-time (80 hours a pay period)


Position Requirements:

3+ years work experience in a healthcare or finance setting (revenue cycle experience preferred) registration, billing, collection etc.

Associate degree or active pursuit of advance degree preferred.
Successful completion of a data entry assessment
Effective organizational and prioritization skills

Exhibits sophisticated interviewing, communication and negotiation skills.

Possesses intermediate math and business writing skills

Knowledge of office equipment

Computer literate

Excellent Customer Service Skills

Medical terminology skills. N/A Ability to work in a fast~paced environment with established time constraints and difficult situations

Candidate must be able to perform physical tasks such as lifting 50 lbs (for example: boxes or paper and supplies) and assisting in transferring patients in wheelchairs.

Will be exposed to frequent standing.

Must be able to push patients in wheelchairs

Exposure to hazardous and/or contagious materials or illnesses

If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case~by~case basis.

Accurately collects, analyzes and records demographic, insurance/financial, and clinical data from multiple sources, and obtains other information and signatures necessary for scheduling, registration and billing.

Performs the registration process in accordance with State, Federal, hospital and departmental policies, procedures and regulations. Performs scheduling for all services offered at the facility (This may also include scheduling for other off site satellite locations within the service area.

Effectively screens for compliance with payer requirements for medical necessity and determine when it is appropriate to solicit and document additional substantiating diagnosis, signs or symptoms to support medical necessity. Performs pre certification to ensure accurate payment is secured. Verifies insurance eligibility following departmental processes.

Welcomes patients to the facility and interacts in a customer~focused and compassionate manner to ensure patients and their representatives' needs are met, and that they understand the hospital's revenue cycle expectations, including Charity care and resolution of personal liabilities through various payment options.

Negotiates deposits and collects payments in accordance with the Advocate Expectation of Payment policy. Obtains reimbursement for managed care co~payments, deductibles and uncompensated care at the time of discharge from the department.

This position will maintain a direct reporting relationship to the Manager of Off Campus Ventures, with dotted line reporting through Patient Intake at Good Shepherd for compliance purposes.


Accurately collects and analyzes all required demographic, insurance/financial, and clinical data necessary to register/admit patients from all payer classes.
Performs duties relating to the hospital revenue cycle that are included in the areas of payer reimbursement, collection of payments, and advance deposits.
Responsible for proper handling of all money received per cash collection protocols.
Greets all customers utilizing excellent guest relations techniques
