Position Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Social Work, Psychology, Therapeutic Recreation or related field.

In lieu of Bachelor's Degree, 5~10 years of experience in working with children and families affected by disabilities.

 

1~2 years experience working with children and families

Good communication skills
Experience working with people who have special needs
Familiarity with active listening principles
Experience leading groups
Basic computer skills
CPR

May be exposed to hazardous materials and life~threatening diseases.
Direct contact with bodily fluids
Early evening and weekend hours

If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case~by~case basis.

Purpose:
Responsible for the planning, implementing and faclitating all Sibshop groups for children ages 5~17 years old that have a brother or sister with a disability or chronic illness. Facilitator establishes topics of discussion for the groups along with accompanying activities and games to emphasize the conversations.

Accountabilities:
Responsible for planning, implementing and facilitating all Sibshop groups.
Keeps program coordinator informed of group and individual group members' progress through written evaluation and discussion.
Completes administrative tasks as necessary.
