The Clinical Resource Unit (CRU) is a valuable team of 30 RNs who are cross-trained to float throughout the inpatient units. The CRU RNs are an essential resource for IMMC, filling needs based on census, acuity and planned and unplanned absences to ensure we have adequate unit staffing. The CRU RN will float to one of eight units, covering Med/Surg, Tele, and occasionally the ICU to care for Tele overflow or Stepdown patients.  The CRU is an exceptional opportunity for a nurse to explore different unit environments and gain experience with diverse patient populations.

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
  • Current Illinois RN license
  • Current CPR
  • Participate in a 3 Day EKG class
  • Minimum of 1 year current nursing experience on a med/surg and/or telemetry unit
  • Certification in your current area of specialty once meeting eligibility requirements.
  • Good communication skills
  • Good time management and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with patient care equipment
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and different shifts in order to accommodate staffing
  • Ability to transport objects, patients, and equipment
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
