Position Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent (Associates Required)
  • Certified Healthcare Facilities Manager (CHFM)
  • 5 yrs experience Lead within Facilities function.
  • 2 years safety management experience.
  • Knowledge of hospital construction.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize.
  • Knowledge of hospital construction.
  • Knowledge of maintenance practice/methods.
  • Basic PC skills.
  • Good leadership skills. 
  • Ability to work under extreme physical and mental pressure in a fast paced environment.
  • Some travel.
  • On-call capability to respond within 45 minutes.
  • Ability to work in hazardous areas and conditions.


Purpose:
The Manager of Maintenance Operations will be responsible for maintenance and repair work necessary to provide a comfortable, healthy and safe environment for patients, visitors, and employees. Responsible for coordinating multi-disciplinary maintenance activities such as contractual maintenance services and procurement.

The individual will work with the Manager Plant Operations and the Regional Director of Facilities to identify cost reduction opportunities, strategies and ensure implementation. As a leader in the Facilities Division, this position will be responsible for leadership, recruiting, training staff and developing standardized work definition. The position will also undertake and lead special assignments on behalf of the Regional Director that will financially benefit the Advocate site.

Accountabilities:

  1. Planning and direction of all activities within the Maintenance department, and Minor Construction Projects
  2. Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies such as Federal and State Environmental Protection Agencies, O.S.H.A., State and Local Fire Inspection, I.D.P.H., and Accrediting Organizations.
  3. Maintains an effective working relationship with the Plant Operations function as well as with other hospital departments and medical staff.
  4. Selection of qualified staff to ensure excellent services are provided. Responsible for planning, assessment, facilitation, direction and monitoring of staff development to ensure competency.
  5. Responsible for the preparation, implementation, and monitoring of the department's budgets congruent with Advocate site's strategic plans and in cooperation with senior management. Responsible for budget management and performance of all areas of responsibility.
