Advocate Trinity Hospital has a rich and robust history, having served the health care needs of the communities, individuals and families in the southeast side of Chicago for more than 110 years, beginning in 1895 as South Chicago Hospital.   In 1995, Trinity Hospital, part of the Evangelical Health Systems (EHS) merged with Lutheran General Health System to become the present day Advocate Trinity Hospital which is a 193 licensed-bed facility with approximately 300 physicians representing 50 specialties.  This includes advanced heart attack care, expanded Cardiovascular Services, primary stroke care center, oncology/infusion center, Level II special care nursery and an array of surgical specialties not found in most community hospitals.  Trinity earned Joint Commission accreditation, received HealthGrades® recognition with five star ratings for pulmonary and stroke care; also highest rating for total hip replacement surgery and was awarded the Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development (SHSMDSM) Circle of Distinction Award.   Trinity's nearly 1,000 employees, make the hospital one of the area's largest employers.

Purpose:
The CNO at Trinity Hospital provides executive leadership to all nursing departments and nursing support functions including Surgical and Emergency Services. The CNO is responsible for the consistency of high performance in all KRAs including safety, quality, customer satisfaction, associate satisfaction physician satisfaction financial performance and growth. The CNO is responsible to create an environment for patient care delivery that is characterized by responsiveness, fiscal responsibility, and high quality associate relations.

The CNO functions as an operational and strategic thought leader of Trinity's executive team. This responsibility includes involvement in strategic planning, market share growth, and a commitment to impact overall hospital prescence, position and perception in the market.

The CNO provides executive leadership and direction to the overall Advocate Experience (safety, service and quality) at the top decile level for patients, families, visitors and physicians at Advocate Trinity Hospital.
 

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Nursing wiht a Masters degree (MBA, MHA or health related field)
  • 7 years clinical experience.
  • 7 years progressive leadership experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and problem solving skills 
  • Clinical experience in one or more areas of accountability
  • Current license in the State of Illinois


Accountabilities:

  1. Provide leadership to evaluate the practice of clinical care at Trinity Hospital. Ensures the continued delivery of safe, high quality patient care services and operations consistently.
  2. Creates a culture that exceeds the expectations of patients, families, associates and physicians. Achieves and sustains top performance in the satisfaction of all stakeholders.
  3. Acts as a financial steward of the hospital by ensuring appropriate resource allocation, productivity and effective management of resources in all assigned cost centers.
  4. Effectively plans for implementation and/or strategic growth of clinical services in areas of responsibility that contribute to the mission of the hospital to meet the changing needs of the community.
  5. Serves as a hospital ambassador by developing effective relationships and partnerships with other health care entities, schools, local businesses, and community organizations.
  6. Ensures development and implementation of policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance with federal, state, and agency regulations and laws.
  7. Leads effective goal setting and decision~making in assigned areas and on hospital~wide issues and policies, as assigned by the Site President, by developing committees and providing accurate and pertinent research analyses and technical input.
