Position Requirements:
1~2 years of related clerical experience or healthcare experience.
High School education or equivalent
Knowledge of medical terminology demonstrates successful completion of course.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates preferred
Strong ability to understand written communication
Knowledge of computer and ability to use windows~based products.
Typing skills
Experience with Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Good communication and telephone skills.
Strong customer service skills N/A Hours may vary as well as unit due to patient census for Unit Concierge.
Ability to successfully completed hospital~based training for clerical assistant.
Ability to rotate shifts to provide coverage.
Requires walking, standing, bending and lifting throughout the work day.
Lifting requirement defined as light.
Responds to emergency





If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case~by~case basis.

Purpose:
To provide support to achieve the delivery of high quality care and customer satisfaction under the direct supervision of the nurse manager, practice leader, charge nurse or supervisor. The Unit Concierge works within the accepted service standards of the hospital and its mission and philosophy.

The Unit Concierge works as a member of the patient care team and serves to facilitate unit operations through direct support activities to serve the patient and their family/visitors, the nursing/clinical staff, the physicians and the department/unit.


Accountabilities:
PATIENT AND FAMILY SUPPORT ACTIVITIES Participates in activities that result in high patient and family satisfaction and contributes to the reputation of the department/unit while serving as an advocate for all patients and visitors.
PHYSICIAN SUPPORT ACTIVITIES Creates an environment that is physician friendly and supportive while completing necessary activities that result in accurate and timely care to patients.
NURSING STAFF SUPPORT ACTIVITIES Assists team in support of nursing functions within scope of practice to improve communications among the health care team.
DEPARTMENTAL/UNIT SUPPORT ACTIVITIES Completes activities that support the department reputation and result in efficient and effective operations of a daily basis.
SELF AND TEAM DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES Responsible for development of self and team to improve skills and morale of department.
