RN Clinical Research Coordinator Part time Days -Illinois Masonic Medical Center

This position will support both Cardiovascular and Neurology Clinical Research at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. There is an established Cardiology Research Program at the site and this hire will have .5 of their time to support CV. Neurology is a growing service line that would like to expand research to IMMC; .5 of the FTE will be to support the growth of the Neurology Research Service Line at IMMC.

 

Position Requirements:
RN or BSN from an accredited institution
1~2 years of nursing or other relevant experience
Experience or knowledge of clinical trials research

Possess professional knowledge of a wide range of nursing concepts, principles, and practices to perform highly specialized nursing assignments and phlebotomy as well as knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and pharmacology
Knowledge of Good Clinical Practices, International Conference on Harmonization Guidelines, FDA Guidance
Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook) and other computerized programs
Project management skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Ability to work as a member of a diverse team
Ability to problem solve
Ability to establish and maintain successful relationships with investigators
Ability to organize with attention to detail
Ability to handle stress

Clinical Research Coordinator Certification or willingness to obtain Certification within 3 years

Flexibility in work hours to accommodate research participant visits. Travel to other Advocate sites as necessary and travel to investigator meetings. Ability to respond quickly during eligibility, dose modification and serious adverse event processes. Ability to work in a fast paced environment with established time constraints.

If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case~by~case basis.

Purpose:
The Research Nurse Coordinator provides and directs nursing care in a research environment coordinating the conduct of clinical research protocols in the in~hospital and clinic settings with an emphasis on the screening, enrolling, and monitoring of patient candidates/participants.

Responsibility, Authority, Reporting Relationship
The Research Nurse Coordinator is involved in clinical research utilizing advanced nursing assessment and research skills in the conduct and coordination of clinical research and in interacting with research subjects. The position provides expert professional nursing care to patients and makes critical evaluations to develop and implement new nursing procedures and protocols in conjunction with accepted standards of care. The Research Nurse Coordinator must possess professional knowledge of a wide range of nursing concepts, principles and practices, as well as knowledge related to the conduct and coordination of clinical research involving human subjects.

The Research Nurse Coordinator is responsible for delivering the highest quality clinical research services to research subjects, ensuring safety and adherence to study protocols as well as providing quality service to investigators, study sponsors and funding agencies. The Research Nurse Coordinator facilitates and coordinates a number of research activities, including sponsored clinical trials, cooperative group studies, and investigator~initiated research, as applicable on an inpatient and outpatient basis. In collaboration with the Principal Investigator (PI), the Research Nurse Coordinator manages assigned research studies, including but not limited to: study start~up responsibilities, IRB submission (in collaboration with the Regulatory Coordinator, if applicable), recruitmen
