REGISTERED NURSE: Colorectal Clinic

Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, Chicago (Lakeview area) 

  • Hours scheduled Monday through Friday; occasional Saturday 
  • Day Shift Hours: 8:30a-5p
  • Full Time (80 hours a pay period)

JOB and UNIT SUMMARY: 

As a Registered Nurse in the Colorectal Clinic you will support the physician(s) in delivering quality health care to ambulatory patients with GI diagnosis. Will perform a variety of clerical tasks to promote continuity of care.

 

  • Provides support in the delivery of quality clinical care. Works with designated physicians to provide triage, telephone assessment and home therapies consistent within established guidelines.
  • Provides efficient high-quality service to patients who arrive for appointments or who telephone or visit in person to request appointments or information on tests and procedures, bills and charges, referrals and other matters
  • Demonstrates leadership activities in day to day activities and functions as a leader/nursing resource and role model for clinical support staff
  • Understands order completion and documentation for appropriate charge capture and risk reduction.

 

 

 REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Current Illinois RN license
  • Current CPR
  • Must possess at minimum 2 years critical care, telemetry or medical/surgical nursing experience
  • Bilingual, Spanish highly desired
  • Good communications skills.
  •  Familiarity with equipment used in ambulatory care.
  •  Ability to work varying shifts any day of the week to meet needs of the center.
  •  Ability to work under stressful conditions and difficult situations.
  •  Ability to perform lifting/transfer activities relating to patients as needed, ability to stoop/bend.
  •  Able to respond quickly to patient needs and work at fast pace.
  • Work environment includes probability of exposure to adverse, hazardous, or unpleasant conditions while caring for the sick
  • Ability to assist in evacuation of patients in the event of a fire or other disaster
  • Routinely works with potentially infectious specimens and patients
  • Ability to lift to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
