Food Service Rep. (Dietary/Nutrition)

Full Time, Day/PM Shifts: 6:00am-2:30 pm and11:30am-8:00pm, rotating weekends and holidays

The Food and Nutrition Representative acts as the liaison between patients and the Department of Food and Nutrition Services. The Food and Nutrition Representative provides support to the operations of the Department of Food and Nutrition Services by facilitating the accurate and timely delivery of patient food and nutrition services. In addition, the Food and Nutrition Representative processes Physician's orders by maintaining patient card files, modifying menus, obtaining patient menu selections, as well as entering menu selections into the computer. The Food and Nutrition Representative also coordinates patient nutrition needs between nursing units, Clinical Dietitians and the kitchen staff.


  • Demonstrates the ability to ensure the quality and accuracy of department operations by providing a selective menu service to patients.
  • Participates in self development by attending mandatory inservices and meetings appropriate to the goals and needs of the department.
  • Demonstrates the ability to ensure the quality and accuracy of department operations by processing Diet, Tube~Feeding, Supplement, Nourishment Orders, as well as patient Allergy information.

Position Requirements:

  • Completion of high school education or G.E.D.
  • 4~12 Months food and/or nutrition experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient knowledge of computer operations.
  • Frequent lifting, bending, stooping, walking or standing. Work may require an awkward or strained position to be assumed for a short period of time in lifting or handling heavy objects
  • Kitchen equipment for trayline and/or cafeteria service may be used: heavy patient carts, steam tables, coffee urns
  • Indoor environment ~ some noise, fumes or other distractions
  • Outdoor environment ~ exposure to various weather conditions
  • OSHA Risk Category ll. Normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue, but exposure or potential for exposure may occur.
  • If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case~by~case basis.
