Variable days per week- Shift 4p-8p

Every other weekend required


JOB SUMMARY: The Tray Runner is responsible for providing a high-quality dining experience to patients which meets their nutritional requirements and service expectations. The Tray Runner acts as the liaison between patients and the Food and Nutrition Services department through daily patient visits and coordinating patient nutritional needs between nursing units, dietitians, as well as, kitchen staff. The Tray Runner delivers safe high quality food meal trays to assigned patients ensuring the best possible patient experience.


  • Provides high quality patient service in distributing patient trays and nourishments
  • Delivers excellent customer service experiences in a consistent manner.
  • Maintains sanitation and safety standards.
  • Demonstrates good time management skills.
  • Participates in self-development by attending mandatory in services and education programs appropriate to the goals and needs of the department.



  • High School or Equivalent
  • At least 1 year experience in food service setting.
  • Ability to read, write speak and understand the English language to process menus and complete simple reports, as related to essential job activities
  • Math Skills: Simple mathematical equations including addition, subtraction, multiplication.
  • Able to access high and low areas.
  • Exposure to hazardous materials and conditions.
  • Able to meet time constraints in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to perform cleaning tasks.
  • Able to communicate effectively and  with others.
  • Standing is required throughout the work day.
  • Exposed to some extreme temperature changes, heat dish room, cold cooler and freezers.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds occasionally with assistance and 10 to 15 pounds frequently.
  • Large amounts of bending and lifting, as related to essential job activities.
