Position Requirements:
Associate degree + 4 years experience in security/safety field OR High School Diploma/GED + some college courses + 5 years relevant experience in security/safety field

State of Illinois 20 hour Basic Security Officer Course (40 hour course for officers who are armed). New associates must have at time of hire.

Valid Drivers License

If applicable per site protocol:
State of Illinois 20 Hour Firearms Certificate
Possess a current Illinois FOID Card
Basic computer skills to include Microsoft Office

Strong communication skills, writing skills and customer service focus

Must have critical thinking skills and exercise diplomacy, showing empathy and compassion when in contact with those who may be sick or under stress.
Certified in TASER use within 90 days (where applicable)

Successful completion of Clinical Restraint training within 30 days of employment

Complete the pressure points and control tactics and MOAB training annually (within 90 days of hire).

Eligible to apply for the State of Illinois Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC) within 30 days of hire and eligible to obtain and maintain the PERC within 180 days of hire.




Must be able to multitask, coach and step up in an emergency leadership role if needed.

Position is subject to work weekends and holidays. Must be able to work in all weather conditions. Ability to climb, walk, run and stand for long periods of time. Ability to perform very heavy lifting and/or help patients into and out of wheelchairs, cars, etc. Ability to defend self and/or others in case of physical confrontations.



If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case~by~case basis.

Purpose:
Provides operational leadership of security and safety related line officer services delivered by Public Safety Officers during a designated shift, and ensures that all services meet the quality standards necessary to achieve the department's mission.

Accountabilities:
Provides for a secure and safe work environment by ensuring staff compliance with appropriate policies, procedures and processes. Uses delegation for associate development and to foster decision making abilities. Knows and operates according to all relevant policies and procedures. Prioritizes tasks according to importance to departmental objectives. Understands and accepts the need for change. Accommodates shifting demands, pressures and the complexities of assignments.
Ensures public safety services provided to customers (Patient, Visitor, Associates, Tenants and Medical Staff) are at a high level of customer satisfaction. Encourages quality awareness and orientation in others. Investigates means for continual quality improvement, and integrates consideration of quality into daily actions and decisions.
Works closely with Manager to develop talent at all levels within the team through initial officer field training, continuing staff education opportunities and on~going performance assessments. Helps officers achieve required results and personal growth through acceptable means.
