Purpose:
To provide oversight, management and leadership for the Registered Nurses, Patient Care Companion, and Nursing Assistants/Health Unit Coordinator and Patient Transport. Responsible for staffing the entire clinical nursing division. As leader of the large Clinical Resource Unit (CRU), responsible to ensure compliance, competence and clarity of roles as team members are assigned to different departments. Hires and disciplines all members of the CRU .

Responsible for results oriented business oversight and accountability within the nursing resource department on a 24 hour basis. Plans, coordinates, and manages nursing and clinical personnel in the provision of high quality and cost~effective patient care services. To provide administrative leadership to Staffing Coordinators, Nursing Office personnel, and house wide resource pools.

Provides data collection and analysis for regulatory agencies, staffing, census, bed placement, and cost management. Provides consultative services to Nursing and Clinical Operations Leadership using staffing, census, acuity, cost and outcomes data. Serves as key driver of staffing and productivity software programs and improvement processes. Manages and coordinates public reporting of staffing effectiveness data to governmental and other accreditation agencies as required. Manages and implements strategies for effective utilization of ADaPT. Provides managers, directors and CNE with strategic data on timely basis. Oversees administration of inpatient nursing contracts with outside nursing agencies and participates in contract negotiation process.
 

Works in close collaboration with Staffing Committee to insure timelines of hires.

 

Position Requirements:

  • BSN
  • MSN preferred
  • 2 yrs. Progressive demonstrated experience in financial and business management
  • 2 years experience managing staffing protocols and acuity systems
  • 6 years healthcare experience
  • 2 years in a management position Organization skills

Accountabilities:

  1. Maintenance of effective working relationships with internal and external contacts.
  2. Responsible for the business/fiscal management aspect of the nursing resource department in collaboration with the directors, clinical managers, and Chief Nurse Executive.
  3. Management Oversight: In coordination with the Director, provides day to day oversight of the CRU, and ensures nursing/clinical operations are stable and performing as expected on a 24 hour basis. Provides strategic planning and direction in provision of 24~hour staffing to patient care areas of nursing/clinical operations.
  4. Plan, manage, implement, and evaluation operations/services to ensure quality, efficiency, and cost~effectiveness.
  5. Select, develop, and evaluate staff.
