Position Requirements:
High School graduate or equivalent

Completion of medical terminology course (or equivalent experience)

1~2 years previous experience as a secretary in a hospital, physicians’ office or a nursing home

Allied health/medical/nursing students who have completed 1 or more clinical rotations
Competent computer knowledge and skills

Good communication skills and excellent customer service skills n/a Transportation of unit supplies, specimens constant contact with infection and contagious disease through specimen handling and patient contact.

Physical and mental stress by working in an environment with multiple demands and time constraints.

Potential problems related to CRT use.

Demonstrates independent decision and problem~solving abilities.

Must be able to work holidays and weekends.

Must be flexible in work schedule.

Demonstrates ability to be cross~trained to other areas.

May be required to have direct patient care transport via wheelchair or stretcher.

Ability to frequently stoop, bend, push, pull, climb, lift, and demonstrate manual dexterity for extended periods of time.

May need to be able to perform medium lifting of 30 pounds to change printer paper. Medium lifting: Lifting up to 20~50 pounds occasionally and/or 10 to 25 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly.

Ability to adapt to changes in work assignments and environment.

Possible exposure to infectious waste and disease.

Ability and willingness to work on all shifts, weekends, and holidays, in all patient care areas.

Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time (stand and/or walk 50 percent of time: sit 50 percent of time).

Able to work at a pace sufficient to complete assigned workload daily.

Possible strain due to continuous use of CRT.

If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case~by~case basis.

To provide support to achieve the delivery of high quality care and customer satisfaction under the direct supervision of the nurse manager, patient care leader, or charge nurse. The Clinical Support Assistant works within the accepted service standards of the hospital and its mission, values and philosophy.

The Clinical Support Assistant works as a member of the patient care team and serves to facilitate unit operations through direct support activities to serve the patient and their family/visitors, the nursing/clinical staff, the physcians, the department/unit, and the unit manager.

NURSING STAFF SUPPORT ACTIVITIES~ Assists team in support of nursing functions within scope of practice to improve communications among the health care team.
PHYSICIAN SUPPORT ACTIVITIES~Creates an environment that is physician friendly, supportive and efficient to facilitate optimal patient care.
PATIENT AND FAMILY SUPPORT ACTIVITIES~Participates in activities that result in high patient and family satisfaction and contributes to the reputation of the department/unit while serving as an advocate for all patients and visitors.
DEPARTMENTAL/UNIT SUPPORT ACTIVITIES~Completes activities that support the department reputation and result in efficient and effective operations on a daily basis.
SELF AND TEAM DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES~Responsible for development of self and team to improve skills and morale of department.
