ECHO/VASCULAR TECHNICIAN

ADVOCATE DREYER – Highland Ave., Aurora, IL

Position will support 3 locations North Aurora, Highland and Copley 

Full-Time (40 hours/week)

Monday - Friday:- hours will vary

Position Requirements:
Graduate of a 2 or 4 year accredited (CAAHEP) program in cardiovascular ultrasound technology or medical school graduate
Echo: 1 year experience in cardiovascular ultrasound imaging.
Vascular: 1 year experience performing carotids. Vein Mapping experience a plus.

RDCS/RCS Eligible (Echo)
RVT/RVS Eligible through ARDMS or CCI (Vascular)
CPR Certification required upon hire or within 60 days of hire.

Experience with Siemens SC2000 and Sequoia preferred.
Familiar with operating echo equipment ~ Siemens SC2000 and Sequoia preferred.
Basic computer skills with knowledge of MS office programs.
Professional and articulate able to communicate technically with physicians and also explain procedures simply to patients.
Good writing skills.
Good organizational skills
Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work well with clinical associates and providers.
Excellent patient care skills with ability to assess, plan and intervene and evaluate the physical, emotional and education needs of patients.
Knowledge of cross~sectional anatomy.
Assist/support/move ambulatory patients
Physically capable and knowledge of how to position patients for exams
Ability to work flexible hours
Willingness to work overtime when needed
Work under frequent stress in sensitive clinical settings
Flexible in start and end times to accommodate patient exams.


If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case~by~case basis.

Purpose:
The Echo/Vascular Technologist provides diagnostic, non~invasive optimal quality echocardiography studies including, 2D, M~Mode, color and doppler flow studies of the heart. Performs noninvasive vascular studies, (i.e. abdominal, arterial, carotid, pseudo aneurysms, venous and intra~operative surgery scanning). Provides related clerical responsibilities necessary for physician interpretation and department record keeping. Provides optimal patient care in accordance with the Behavioral Expectations and adheres to applicable department and clinic policies, as well as state, federal and governing agency guidelines.

Accountabilities:
Responsible for obtaining and recording accurate quality echocardiography scans and vascular studies of the heart.
Responsible for assisting staff in office related duties, (answering phones, entering messages into Epic and rooming pt's.)
Participation in departmental goal implementation and self development activities.
Maintenance of departmental logs, equipment, records and exam rooms.
Able to perform other routine department diagnostic procedures as cross trained.
