She is a Medical Assistant in the Pediatric Plastic Surgery Unit at Advocate Children’s Hospital in Park Ridge. She is known across the hospital for her generous heart and the amazing connections she has with patients. “Every year during Christmastime, I like to give to kids who are in need because I believe that no child should wake up to nothing. The joy behind this is overwhelming, with lots of hugs and tears.”

He started as an x-ray student at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and has worked here for a total of 27 years. As an x-ray technologist, he had the opportunity to cross-train in ultrasound and appreciates that there is always room for learning and improvement in his position. Now a sonographer, Bernardo teaches ultrasound students who rotate through his department. “I always tell my students that I look forward to the day when they are able to teach me something, and am lucky enough to have some of them as fellow associates now.”

She has been an Assistant Clinical Manager on the Progressive Stepdown Unit for over a year at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. Recently, she celebrated her 10-year anniversary as a registered nurse. “My mother, who is also a registered nurse, always spoke about how much she loved her job and inspired me to become a nurse. I can’t think of any other career besides nursing that I would want to do. Meeting patients whom I’ve cared for after their hospitalization is one of the best feelings – I can’t even explain it.”
