Satisfactory organizational skills Satisfactory Computer application skills. Satisfactory communication skills. Satisfactory customer service skills. Net Data Entry Speed of 25 words/minute on the AlphaNumeric Data Entry Test. Position requires a high degree of accuracy. HS Diploma. 2+ years registration or billing or data entry or scheduling experience. Health Care experience highly preferred. Registration experience highly preferred.
This position is primarily an afternoon shift position with some rotation to days and rotational weekends.
Job Description:
The Access Representative I will register ER patients, Outpatients in 2 locations, and will admit Inpatients. The Access representative will provide the hospital with initial and updated information for both the billing and clinical records. The Access Representative I has a direct, front door, impact on patient, family, visitor, and physician satisfaction. The Access Representative I works with a very high volume of confidential and complex demographic, insurance, and clinical information. Accountabilities: 1. Collects patient pre-registration, registration, or admission information under quality and productivity guidelines 2. Completes of registration paperwork according to legal, 3rd party payer, and Advocate guidelines 3. Verify insurance, obtain HMO preauthorization, obtain insurance precertification, and prescreen diagnoses and procedures for medical necessity 3rd as needed. 4. Order entry 5. Patient Payments 6. Financial Counseling 7. Reception, Customer Service, Patient Safety 8. Routine departmental tasks and responsibilities
