Job Description:
The RN staff nurse assumes primary responsibility for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care for assigned patients.
A Nurse Clinician II plans and sets goals which demonstrate a holistic approach to patients and families. Assumes leadership responsibilities at the unit level. Demonstrates a mastery of clinical skills.
Accountabilities: 1. Nurse/Patient Relationship: Develops and maintains a therapeutic relationship throughout the healthcare continuum 2. Assuring/Improving Quality Care: Facilitates the patient and family s right to receive quality, cost effective care 3. Patient/Staff Education: Demonstrates a commitment to meeting the learning needs of patients and families. Utilizes appropriate resources to meet those needs and achieve positive patient outcomes. Assists in creating an environment that promotes educational growth opportunities for nursing peers and colleagues 4. Nursing Process: Demonstrates the use of nursing process as a problem-solving model. 5. Leadership/Collaboration/Professional Development: Demonstrates respect and understanding for peers and other clinical disciplines and participates as an effective member of the patient care team to formulate an integrated approach to care. Demonstrates leadership behaviors and is committed to the development of self and others. 3. Education/Competency a. Basic ECG interpretation 2 yr RN telemetry experienced is required.
b. ACLS or PALS must have one of the two. Needs to complete the other within one year of hire
c. Demonstrates competency in Moderate Sedation
4. Nursing Process a. As applicable, the interdisciplinary Plan of Care tool is consistently and accurately completed (i.e., problems are appropriately identified, appropriate goals are dated, initialed and modified, problems are resolved and managed at discharge, appropriate triggers identified, PIE notes complete.) b. Demonstrates the ability to admit and recover interventional radiology and sedated perdiatric patients.
c. Consistently demonstrates the ability to prioritize patient care and follow through with planned care.
Occupational Exposure to Ionizing Radiation. Maybe required to stand and wear lead apron for extended periods of time
Occupational Exposure to high strenght magnetic fields must be able to be screened to work in MRI environment. Must not have implanted medical device that will interfere with MRI or that may suffer adverse effect when exposed to MRI
Rotates on call for week nights, weekends and holidays.
