Job Description:
To serve as a liaison between the Medical Center and external payors on issues related to intensity of service and severity of illness for patients. Consultant to physicians, nursing staff, patients, families and ancillary personnel. The position involves coordination of services to improve and maintain quality patient care and appropriate utilization of resources to maximize reimbursement for the Medical Center. Accountabilities: 1. Liaison for the health care team and external review agencies to assure severity of illness and intensity of services criteria is met and patient lenght of stay is monitored for appropriateness. 2. Assists in the coordination of patient/department activities ensuring efficient utilization of multidisciplinary resources. 3. Facilitates the management of the patient s healthcare needs, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. 4. Identifies the variances from established criteria, plans of care, pathways, algorithms and guidelines and facilitates the development of action plans. 5. Responsible for professional growth. 6.
