Minimum of 1 2 years previous patient care delivery experience.
Completion of phlebotomy training program.
Phlebotomy certification.
Previous laboratory experience in specimen handling and simple test performance.
Phlebotomy certification: PBT (ASCP) / NPA / ACA

EKG certification if applicable within 1 year of hire.

Job Description:

To collect quality blood specimens from patients, to perform EKG testing (site specific), and to perform limited laboratory analysis in all clinical and AP areas in a manner that is technically appropriate, cost effective and patient focused, according to approved departmental policies and procedures.
Accountabilities:
1. Collects blood specimens from patients in accordance with accepted laboratory standards and policies and procedures in order to ensure optimal specimen integrity and accurate test results

3. Provision of patient data, specimen status, collection procedures, etc. in response to physician and/or nursing staff inquiries
4. Performs limited routine laboratory test analyses
5. Performs EKG testing ensuring that accurate results form twelve lead computerized electrocardiograms and rhythm strips are provided for Cardiologist interpretation. (Site specific.)
6. Performs donor draws for autologous or directed donors. (Site specific.)
7. Triages and processes specimen efficiently and accurately according to policy and procedure. (Site specific).
8. Performs glucose and template bleeding time tests according to established procedures
9. Maintains and stocks the work area
10. May be charge person in absence of supervisor or lead.
