* Ability to interpret documents such as, but not limited to encounter forms, medical records, physician documentation, lab reports, dictated reports, operating instructions, and policy/procedure manuals.
* Knowledge of medical and insurance reimbursement, ICD 9, and CPT coding, disease processes, and medical terminology.
* Ability to interview people to obtain basic information.
* Ability to write correspondence proficiently. * Ability to interact with all levels of health care team professionally.
* Ability to deal with problems involving several abstract and concrete variables in standardized situations.
* Ability to work independently. Ability to meet deadlines and goals.
* Effective and professional communications skills.
* High volume and multiple tasks.
* Associates Degree in health related field.
* One or more years related experience in coding, physician/medical billing.
* CCA within 1 year of employment
* Ability to travel to various sites as needed
Job Description:
The Coder is responsible for functioning as a liaison between the Physicians and the Finance Department. The position responsibilities include, but are not limited to revenue capture, and Medicare Risk Adjustable education.
The Coder promotes consistency and accuracy of AHC coding and documentation practices, and ensures that clinical services ordered and performed are properly documented according to medical necessity and governmental regulations.
