Graduate of an AMA accredited Respiratory Care Program.
NBRC entry level credential
Possess an Illinois state license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
Associate s Degree if graduated after 2000.
Basic Life Support
Neonatal Resuscitation Program within one year of hire.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support within one year of hire.
Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Life Support within one year of hire.
Registry eligible will remain in CRT job until demonstrating pass status for Boards.

Job Description:

Under the supervision of the Respiratory Care Coordinator, Manager, Respiratory and Pulmonary Services, and Medical Director, the Certified Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory care modalities to inpatients and outpatients of all age groups, including neonate, pediatric, adult, and geriatric. All modalities are provided in accordance with written policies and procedures, and include oxygen therapy, respiratory treatments, ventilator support, blood gas analysis, EKG s, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. These modalities may be delivered in all areas of the hospital. The Certified Respiratory Therapist functions as an integral part of the healthcare team and is vital to providing quality, safe patient care utilizing clinical and critical thinking skills.
Accountabilities:
1. Assess indications for and deliver the highest quality of patient care and monitors for optimal outcomes by utilizing best practices from evidenced based medical research and AARC and AAP clinical practice guidelines for prescribing and assessing patient responses to delivered therapies. Re-evaluates patients on an ongoing basis to ensure that appropriate modalities and plan of care are adjusted or maintained as patient condition changes by recommending changes to MDs or prescribing within protocols.
2. Customer Service Provides customer service by assuring age specific education of patients and families. Participates in Departmental and Site Customer Satisfaction Initiatives.
3. People Growth Promotes people growth throughout the hospital by assisting with the clinical education of students during clinical rotations and mentoring new associates. Promotes self growth.
4. Role Model Acts as a role model for department associates.
5. Champions Change Initiatives Views innovation as a means of improving the utilization of respiratory care services.
6. Process Improvement Insures that quality is maintained in the delivery of respiratory care services.
