Ability to work well with others in a team, communication and presentation skills. Ability to work with all levels of associates and different departments. Strong understanding and ability to use all types of radiation measuring devices. Knowledge of radiation rules and regulations on a State and Federal level. Able to use PC programs. Able to learn and use treatment planning computer systems. MS in Physics or Medical Physics with 1 year of experience in a clinical setting. Eligible for board certification by the American Board of Radiology in one or more areas of Medical Physics
Job Description:
Provide physics services to the Radiation Oncology Department in accordance with the highest standards of practice and as required by regulatory agencies. Provide additional physics services to the Diagnostic Radiology and Nuclear Medicine Departments as needed. Accountabilities: 1. Provision of operational aspects of Medical Physics. 2. Calibration of radioactive sources and radiation producing equipment. 3. Develop and implement QC programs and policies for radiation equipment and patient treatment that uses radiation producing equipment. 4. Assist in planning for resource allocation with radiation oncology, radiology and other areas that use radiation producing equipment. 5. Implement, maintain and supervise the Radiation Safety Program in hospital and associated facilities to meet or exceed all State and Federal laws and rules. 6. Maintain interaction with the medical physics community. 7. Stay abreast of new radiotherapeutic and diagnostic technology.
