Job Description:
Provides a high degree of professional competence and demonstrates a high level of autonomy in a specialized field of nursing. Specialization in nursing practice includes in-depth graduate study of relevant theories and scientific knowledge related to a select patient population, which promotes ability to analyze and refine nursing practice and to generate clinical practice knowledge. APRNS s integrate education, research, management, leadership, and consultation into clinical roles, and they function in collegial relationships with nursing peers and other professionals and individuals that influence the health environment. The scope of practice will impact patient care through contact with patients and their support systems throughout the health-illness continuum.
Accountabilities:
1. Demonstrates expert clinical judgment and autonomy through the accepted standards of practice and addresses practice discrepancies.
2. Develops and provides ongoing education programs for nursing staff, patients and other healthcare providers to ensure the integration of current evidence based practice.
3. Serves as a consultant and/or resource person for hospital personnel in area of specialization.
4. Promotes research findings by making appropriate recommendations for changes in policies, procedures, and practice
5. Demonstrates leadership qualities that reflect accountability and alignment consistent with goals of the organization
