A High School graduate or equivalent.
3 yrs prior hospital or physician billing required including 6mo-1yr collection exp or Acct Rep exp required.
Knowledge of 3rd party payor reimbursement
Good aptitude for figures.
Ability to use PC.
Use of CRT.
Typing 30wpm.
Demonstrated analytical ability.
Use of calculator.
Job Description:
To determine the patient s financial status and ability to pay, arranging method of payment by reviewing alternative options. Collects at all stages of a patient s account including Pre-admission, In-house, Discharge, post discharge and time of service. Recommends accounts for charity or Bad Debt write-off.
Accountabilities:
1. Respnisible for determining patients ability to pay and reviewing appropriate option availability
2. Review and resolve open accounts, per guidelines, in order for payment to be secured
3. Collection agency liaison
4. Other duties as assigned by supervisor
