Basic knowledge of a typewriter or computer keyboard
Ability to perform basic math calculations
Ability to perform aseptic technique in a laminar flow hood
High school diploma or GED equivalent
1 year experience as a pharmacy technician, or completed a pharmacy training program or enrolled in pharmacy school or 1 year of college
Passed pharmacy department exams to show competency as a pharmacy technician I
Registered as a pharmacy technician in Illinois
Job Description:
Prepare and deliver medications and sterile products for patients under the direction of a registered pharmacist. Maintain inventory and utilize automation to provide efficient and cost effective pharmacy services. Complete documentation and follow procedures to satisfy legal and regulatory requirements and to maintain a safe environment.
Accountabilities:
1. Preparation and delivery of medications providing customers with accurate and prompt products and service.
2. Preparation of sterile products using aseptic technique and application of infection control procedures, maintaining the health and safety of associates and customers.
3. Application of procedures to specific situations, communication verbally and in writing, prioritizing, and participation in projects and teams to provide quality customer services, assist in training, and address administrative needs of the pharmacy department.
4. Application of procedures and documentation as required to satisfy legal, regulatory, and Department requirements of pharmacy practice.
5. Maintenance of medication and supply inventory to prevent stockouts, limit overstock, minimize waste, and provide efficient customer service.
6. Utilization of automation and technology to maintain equipment in effective and safe working condition, to efficiently perform job functions, and to serve as a resource for other pharmacy associates and nurses who use the technology.
