Requires understanding that age specific patient care is provided with a special recognition for the neonate, child, and geriatric age groups and that appropriate age-specific knowledge in the performance of their distributive activities is important to the provision of pharmacy service. High school diploma. 3 years related education/ experience including at least 1 year of hospital(or long term)pharmacy experience Passes validation testing of proper aseptic technique by external tester. Demonstrates appropriate department-specific competency. Current Illinois Pharmacy Technician license. Illinois Pharmacy Technician Certification.
Job Description:
Under the supervision of registered pharmacists, engages in preparation, control and distribution of medication. Performs duties to maintain the efficiency of the Pharmacy pursuant to the guidelines and policies set forth by the Pharmacy Department. Accountabilities: 1. Works with assigned pharmacist to provide accurate and timely medications to patients 2. Ability to prepare sterile admixtures using aseptic technique under the supervision and direction of a pharmacist 3. Performs general Pharmacy tasks related to medication control, delivery, and processing. 4. Performs floor stock duties as assigned 5. Performs computer tasks correctly according to current department policies 6. Maintains appropriate licensure requirements, continuing education requirements, age competency requirements, and updates knowledge base and skills on an ongoing basis. 7. Educates, teaches, and coaches entry level technicians and new technician associates to perform and accomplish their duties and responsibilities according to policy, procedures and general standards of pharmacy practice. 8. Performs select assigned tasks that may include specialized or advance training and competencies
