Job Description:

The Director of Operations Surgical Services is responsible to define, develop and implement hospital initiatives and strategies to ensure that quality patient care is provided in a cost-effective manner, utilizing continuous quality improvement techniques. The position is responsible for business development, cost management, and care management in a broad portfolio of services that includes

Accountabilities:
1. Direction of operations that will provide continuous service excellence in Surgical Services
2. Ensures and accountable that all sections develop and implement policies, procedures and standards of practice to insure compliance with all standards required by Advocate HealthCare, accreditation agencies, legal, clinical practices and regulatory requirements. Oversees CQI and benchmarking activities.
3. Management of the Human Resource function of Surgical Services to ensure continued quality, development and retention of personnel to meet the demand of the service
4. Development of Long and Short term plans with proactive and collaborative ideas from staff to meet the current and future needs of the department.
5. Participate with the developments of short and long range business and strategic plans for the hospital and specifically in areas of administrative responsibility. Utilization of effective management skills to manage relationships and facilitate a cooperative common goal oriented culture.
6. Maintenance and Development of monitors and improvements that address the productivity of department
7. Preparation, implementation and monitoring of annual budgets to assure that Department financial outcomes reflect appropriate management of resources.
