Previous experience with laboratory equipment and methodologies (preferably those related to areas of responsibility). Basic computer literacy. Bachelor degree and graduation from a Histotechnology or Medical Technology program approved by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) or an equivalent program, or documented equivalent education and training. Histotechnologist-registered HTL (ASCP) with baccalaureate degree, CLS (NCA) ASCP categorical certification (BB, C, CT, H, I, M) or a baccalaureate degree where categorical certification in specialty area is not available.
Job Description:
Under general supervision, performs diagnostic testing and related responsibilities. Demonstrates understanding of scientific theories and techniques of procedures performed. Accountabilities: 1. Performs moderately and/or highly complex analyses with accuracy and precision, understanding basic and complex principles of methodology, including FISH, ISH, cytochemistry and muscle enzyme histochemistry 2. Performs, monitors and evaluates quality control, applies the principles of quality control when reporting tests. 3. Identification and resolution of technical problems related to laboratory methodology, instrumentation and procedures under the direction of the Laboratory Manager 4. Correlates various clinical laboratory test results, applies these results to clinical conditions and recognizes accepted normal ranges 5. Participates in development and education 6. Maintains adequate inventory of supplies as required by the department
