Ability to use keyboard, see computer screen.
Ability to move / lift patients and push carts, etc.
2-3 yrs. of hospital patient care or pre-hospital patient care experience
or
completion of 1 yr. of nursing school clinical rotations
or
acceptance at an accredited medical school
Current CPR certification
Job Description:
The purpose of this position is to assist and support the nursing and medical staff of the Emergency Department; to perform patient care, and environmental tasks, and manage supplies and equipment to ensure the customer-focused, cost-effective operation of the department.
Accountabilities:
1. Perform patient care as directed by nursing or medical staff.
2. Ensure an adequate supply of equipment needed for patient care.
3. Assist with clerical functions such as telephone and order entry, backs-up unit secretaries and greeters for breaks and meals.
4. Transport patients and equipment interdepartmentally.
5. Perform point of care Q.C. checks and testing according to Policy and Procedure.
6. Ensure that patient care areas, storage rooms, and equipment are clean and maintained.
7. Support the Service Breakthrough initiatives.
8. First contact for patients entering the Emergency Department.
Addendum:
Acts as a Liaison between Registration and the ER clinical staff. Performs all ER patient intake duties. Obtains signs and symptoms of patient condition. Assist with the triage process of prioritizing patients. Must present a positive image of the hospital at all times. Must build positive working relationships with the ER staff.
